You Will

You will get up and start again.

You will believe once more in life.

At night you might be overcome with despair,

But the morning will come and

Once again you will rise.

Your shadows will follow you,

At times even drown you.

For now, they are a part of you.

You will learn to walk again.

You will even allow your lips to curl into a smile,

As something made you feel good.

You will feel guilty for breathing in deep,

You will ask the same question over and over again,

“Why?"

You will feel safe once again,

You will.

You will walk down the street thinking of something simple,

Like, what shall I eat?

You will stand in a place you call home,

Might be different, slightly cold, but it will be yours.

Nature will once again run its course.

Babies will continue to come into this world,

The elderly and sick will perish.

You will enjoy the little things in life again,

That were once meaningless to you, now behold a LIFE within.

Time will move along, as it always has.

Your rhythm will also come back.

As will your expectations of what is yet to come.

The haunting smells, the memories, the pain, and the anguish will subside.

Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or not even in years to come.

You are among the living, so you will overcome and prevail.

If you stand in silence, out in the open air.

The familiar sounds of life will return to you

and you might,

Even for one second,

feel "that all is good; all will be fine."
